Order one custom aluminium sign that reproduces the occupant load number you provide. Choose one of the three live sizes, enter the number already established for the premises and identify the proposed posting location. This product makes the physical sign; it does not calculate, check, accept or approve an occupant load.
This product is often searched for as an occupancy load sign. Ontario's Fire Code uses the term occupant load.
Choose the exact live sign size
- 8×10" — Small Room — $89.99 CAD (SKU CL-OCC-8X10-ALU)
- 12×18" — Standard — $129.99 CAD (SKU CL-OCC-12X18-ALU)
- 18×24" — Large Venue — $229.99 CAD (SKU CL-OCC-18X24-ALU)
Small Room, Standard and Large Venue are retail option labels. They do not classify the room, establish its occupant load or prove that a particular sign size is required or accepted for the premises.
Enter an authority-confirmed number
The structured order intake asks for the occupant load number, the proposed installation location and optional production notes. Enter only the number already established in current property documents or confirmed by the local fire department or Chief Fire Official.
A number typed into the order form is customer-supplied production data. It does not become an approved occupant load because it appears on a sign. If the records are unclear, confirm the number before ordering. We do not calculate occupant load from floor area, seating, intended use or means of egress.
What Ontario's current Fire Code says
Ontario Fire Code O. Reg. 213/07 is currently consolidated from January 1, 2026. Article 2.7.1.4 addresses the occupant load of a room or floor space in an assembly occupancy. The permitted load is the lower of the result determined under that Article and the load for which means of egress are provided under the Building Code.
Under Sentence 2.7.1.5.(1), when the occupant load determined under Article 2.7.1.4 is more than 60 persons, it must be posted in a conspicuous location. Sentence 2.7.1.5.(2) also requires a permanent sign in a conspicuous location when the load is based on the number of persons for which the assembly area is designed under Subclause 2.7.1.4.(3)(b)(i).
These provisions concern assembly occupancies. The product title does not establish that a particular room is an assembly occupancy or that a sign is required there.
The sign does not set or approve the load
Ontario's Fire Code defines approved as approved by the Chief Fire Official. Ordering this product does not provide that approval and does not replace current property documents, a required calculation, permit work, a fire safety plan or direction from the authority responsible for the premises.
Ontario's fire prevention and protection guidance identifies the local fire department as the authority for fire safety matters in its municipality. Ask that authority to confirm an uncertain number or posting location before production.
Size, format and location still need confirmation
The cited occupant-load posting provisions require a conspicuous posting. They do not prescribe these three retail dimensions, one wording layout, a colour, a material, a mounting height, an entrance location or a viewing distance. Select the live size that fits the authority-confirmed content and location; do not infer a legal size from the option name.
Article 2.7.1.5 says conspicuous location. It does not say in that Article that every occupant load sign must be at the main entrance. Enter the proposed installation location and check it against current property documents or local fire department direction.
What the order includes
- One custom aluminium occupant load sign in the selected live size
- The customer-entered occupant load number reproduced for production
- The selected SKU and intake details saved with the order
No mounting hardware or installation service is named in the live variants. Occupant-load calculation, professional review, permit work, inspection and authority approval are not included. Confirm the substrate, sign face, mounting method and exposure suitability for the intended location before ordering.
