What Ontario law says

The Reserved Parking for Electric Vehicle Charging Act, 2019 and Ontario Regulation 615 (Signs) under the Highway Traffic Act set the format for EV charging parking signs used in a municipally designated enforcement programme: a no-parking symbol, an EV charger symbol, and the words "EXCEPT WHILE CHARGING" (O. Reg. 615, s. 27.1(1)). Where a municipality has properly designated a space under that framework, a vehicle that is not plugged in and charging can be ticketed under section 30.2 of the Highway Traffic Act ($125). A privately purchased sign on a condominium or commercial lot does not, by itself, create that ticketing authority. Confirm the applicable municipal by-law or your property's enforcement process before relying on it.
